Part of Rotary International’s New Generations, Interact Clubs are formed to teach the importance of service learning to children as young as 10 years old. Ellison’s Interact Club was the first to form at the middle school level in this Rotary district and was chartered by the Rotary Club of Vineland in May 2011. Students meet monthly and perform service activities all year round. Students are eligible to join as soon as they turn 10 years of age.
Service activities include: Collecting and prepping bicycles for shipment overseas with Pedals for Progress; Creating “Boxes of Love” filled with items needed by children in a Santo Domingo orphanage; Picking vegetables for local food banks; Arts and crafts, parties and other activities with the residents of Maurice House in Millville; Planting flowers for the Veterans; Adopting families and providing gifts and holiday cheer; Park and school clean ups; Dune grass planting in Atlantic City as part of Project Green; and so much more!
